During the Intertextile in Shanghai from October 11 – 13 2017, emtec Electronic from Germany will introduce its innovative testing device to measure the three basic parameters, which determine the human touch – the real softness, roughness/smoothness and stiffness.
The TSA – Textile Softness Analyzer is new to the industry, but in other industries, such as tissue and nonwovens, where also the touch is an important parameter, the TSA has shown that it measures the three parameters objective, reliable and repeatable. From the three parameters, a human touch/hand feel value can be calculated. Emtec is represented in about 80 countries by a sales network of 30 representatives.
Besides the sales of the instruments, customer measurements can be done in our labs in Germany as well as consultancy work directly onsite.

TSA – Textile Softness Analyzer
The TSA – Textile Softness Analyzer is a testing device to objectively measure the three basic parameters, which determine the human touch. These parameters are the real softness (determined by the fiber stiffness), the roughness/smoothness (determined by the surface structure) and stiffness (determined by the fibers and the production technology). From these three parameters, a touch/hand feel value can be calculated, adapted to the human expectation in a certain market.
FPA – Fiber Potential Analyzer
The FPA – Fiber Potential Analyzer is a testing device, which gives an information about the surface charge of the fibers. This information is important for an optimal dosing of additives during the manufacturing process of textiles. The level of interaction between chemical and fiber can be seen in the change of the surface charge before and after adding e.g. a softener chemical. Depending on the results, changes to the process or of the chemical can be decided.
CAS touch! – Charge Analyzing System
The CAS touch! – Charge Analyzing System is a testing device to measure the efficiency of additives, which are used during the manufacturing of a textile product. Additionally it can be measured, how the additive behaves over time and after being washed several times. The information is provided by the change of the measured charge. It helps to optimize the consumption of chemicals in the production, but also to choose the right chemical to ensure a long term softness for example.
